Life is flying by here but thought I would “sign in” on my blog. The weekend was spent in Virginia at the wedding of my niece, Julie. My sister, her mother, died unexpectedly last Dec. so it was a sad/happy affair. Even amid the tears it was mostly happy. She is marrying a ship’s captain and for the first six months of marriage they will sail the world together!
My mind is never very far from my books and stories. Right now I am about to finish up the details for my Christmas book, THE CHRISTMAS BIRDIE. I have read lots and lots of children’s books in my life. I am especially partial to Christmas books—good ones that is. When my kids were small I did almost all the picking of books for them from the library. You might say I had an “agenda” and you would be correct. I wanted quality, morals, Christian values, fun, entertainment and something we all could enjoy. Consequently I had my favorites which were repeated year after year.
Considering all of this, I think my Christmas book is GOOD. I guess you might say that is how I could even dare to publish it. It is a bit of a new idea coming from a little bird’s perspective. It has a bit of “suspense” not is a scary way but you think you know what will happen but you aren’t quite sure. It is very true to the Biblical account with some imagination thrown in but not enough to distort the story in any way. As you can tell, I like it! It is something I would have read to my kids and will enjoy reading to my grandchildren for years to come.
It looks like I may have it in my hands in Oct. which would be great and just in time for this Christmas. So that is what I’m thinking about today. I’ll keep you informed! Have a great day.
